It’s heading for 36° today. Hot and dry. My lawn is turning brown and when I step outside later, it’ll be like opening the oven door.
These are the days I’d like to get away, but in the middle of an Australian summer, it’s hot all over. I’ve just returned from a week in Sydney, where it was hot and muggy. Just walking down the street was enough to raise a sweat.
And, as I discovered on my first big overseas trip in 2005, the Northern Hemisphere is in the grip of winter. I went from sipping bubbly on the deck to watching people ski down the streets of Washington DC!
So April and September are my best times for travel. It’s pretty good everywhere.
